supporting Black women with breast cancer

Welcome to Black and Topless

Did you know that as of 2015, 39% more Black women died from breast cancer than white women?

Talk about breast cancer

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer less than two years ago, I noticed a huge gap in online information for black women and breast cancer.

I was able to find a few organizations for black women with breast cancer but none were providing what I was looking for. I was not 40 years old yet so I did not qualify for a free mammogram or other free screening services. And I was definitely not interested in breast cancer walks while going through surgery and treatment.

I was looking for women like me, Black women, who had been diagnosed with breast cancer and gone through treatment. I was really interested in finding other black women who had a mastectomy with immediate reconstruction.

It is my hope for this site to become a useful resource for Black women with breast cancer. No matter how old you are, what your financial or educational background is, Black & Topless is here for you.
